As a result of the Government's announcement of 16th March, there will be no Adult section Monday evening badminton until further notice. The same applies to the Junior section which meets on a Wednesday afternoon/evening. It is unlikely that the Junior section will resume before the end of this year. However please keep an eye on this page for a notice as to when we will resume (both Adult and Junior sections).
Parents of children wishing to join the Junior section should contact the Chairman, Gordon White, on 01342 832702.
Members of the Adult section should amend their standing order subscription payment to skip payment for the upcoming quarter (Q2 due on 1st April and Q3 due on 1st July). For ease of your administration, you may want to reduce the standing order to a nominal amount (say 10p) and then increase it once badminton resumes.
Badminton England have defined a four-phase approach for badminton to recommence. Phase 1 (outdoor badminton only) is already in place. On 10th July, following Government announcements, BE stated that Phase 2 (which allows singles play and doubles play by members of the same household) would start from July 25th. This would mean that our club would need to wait until Phase 3 (unrestricted doubles play). However, on 23rd July, BE updated its advice to state that in Phase 2, doubles play with members of different households could take place provided 2-metre social distancing is observed "as far as possible". This potentially allows for play to resume. (As of September 12th, Phase 3 is in place, which primarily affects coaching and competition, so changes the situation little for us.) The committee is looking into the requirements for safe play and will update club members as soon as we can. More information is available on the Badminton England website at:

On 15th October, Badminton England issued an update following consultation with the Government and the imminent placement of London (i.e. Coulsdon) in Tier 2 (High). The gist is that, while London is in Tier 2, club play will not be allowed at Coulsdon. The full press release is here:
